A really good Chinese bakery option, with separately packed buns and pastries (egg tarts, black bean buns, coconut buns, hot dog buns etc), mooncakes in different flavors, crispy shrimp chips, cookies, cakes and sticky rice ($4.75). They have some items that you can pick yourself and others behind a glass counter. They were packed on a Saturday afternoon but the line moved rather quickly. $10 credit card minimum and .05 for a bag. There's no seating so just grab and go.

I had many memories, from my childhood, going to Ho Yuen Bakery with my grandmother. It was our go-to place in Chinatown to get Chinese pastries. They have many different pastries, including: mochi, moon cake, egg tarts, pineapple buns, hot dog buns, cakes, + more! My personal favorites are their egg tarts & white sugar sponge cake. It doesn't get more authentic than this. ***Remember to bring cash if you plan on visiting***

I was having lunch at Dynasty and needed a desert after. Stopped in and ordered a custard pastry like a donut but much better. Very good and only 2 bucks ... nice woman serving I will buy 1/2 dozen next time...

The black bean pie was very good. The Chinese took it to Guyana. My family is not Chinese, but we make it nearly identical. I loved the crust, very flaky but not too dry. The filling was not too sugary. Very nicely done. It's nice to see how food can connect people, even in small ways.

Tried the coconut bun and the ham bun. Both are tasty. Reasonable prices. I'd go back!

Very flakey, buttery egg tart. They do sell out so definitely recommend going earlier in the day. Cash only! Will be back to try more baked goods!

One of my favorite bakeries in Chinatown! It's a small shop with counter service, and the people behind the counter are quick (although not the most warm and fuzzy, but what do you expect). They understand my broken mix of Mandarin, Toisan, and English which is really all I can ask for. My favorites are the egg tarts, hot dog buns, and ham sui gok, but availability really depends on the time of day. If you're planning on a big order for one of the holidays, I highly recommend you call ahead to make sure you get what you want! This place has been a staple in my family since I was a kid, and I hope they keep the shop going!

Was visiting Boston and had a craving for Chinese egg tarts, but the ones with the flaky shell...not the cookie shell type. And while we were at it, their sesame balls (with black bean paste filling) looked good....and big too! So, we went ahead and ordered one of each to take away.....since they are take out only. Mmm mmm mmmmmmm, the egg tarts were a bit sweet, but that silky smooth egg custard filling in that wonderful flaky shell was heaven. The sesame ball was very good too.....with that perfect light crunch on the outside, nice chewy outside with that lovely, and not too sweet, black bean filling......really made my day....especially after our dim sum lunch around the corner. The only thing I wished was that they were hot and fresh out of the oven or fryer, and that would have made this the most perfect day :) Unfortunately, the egg tarts and sesame balls had been out a while and had cooled. Not a problem.....still enjoyed them anyway. In fact, we were so fast to scoff them all down that I forgot to take pictures....oh well, too late :(
